After-School programs in theatre arts, dance announced for 2021-2022 school year

WEST COLUMBIA, SC -- Lexington Two is offering two after-school, arts-focused programs for the 2021-2022 school year.

After School Gifted & Talented Theatre Arts Program

Schools are now accepting parent nominations for students to audition for the After School Gifted & Talented Theatre Arts Program.  These classes are a great way for students to gain acting, writing, and design skills.

Fourth- through eighth-grade students are recommended by their teachers, administrators or parents for the program. Students audition and parents are notified by letter if their child qualified for the program.

The program is free for students. Classes will begin in mid-October.

Parents may nominate their child for an audition by contacting their child’s school before Thursday, September 2.

Fourth- and fifth-grade students will meet at Saluda River Academy for the Arts one day a week for one hour after school. Stephanie Walker is the instructor.

Sixth- through eighth-grade students will meet one day a week for one hour after school at Busbee Creative Arts Academy.  Shirley Bell is the instructor.

Each group presents a performance in February.  Students in these classes also have the option of participating in the Lexington 2 Dance/Theatre Showcase in April.

After School Gifted & Talented Dance Classes

Lexington Two will offer a new opportunity this year with After School Gifted & Talented Dance Classes. Students will gain technique in jazz and contemporary dance and performance skills.

The program is offered for third- through sixth-grade students, and for seventh- through 12th-grade students. Each group will present a performance in March.

Students will audition for acceptance into the program. Parents and teachers can nominate students for these auditions.

More information will be announced in late August regarding auditions and class times.
