Fulmer teachers and staff, with Palmetto Silver banner

Fulmer Middle School has been recognized with a Palmetto Silver Award from the SC Department of Education for academic achievement and student progress on State Report Cards.

“Our student growth ranked in the top 4% of middle schools across the state of South Carolina, a testament to the hard work, dedication, and commitment of our entire school community,” Principal Jonathan Wilburn said.  “Every day, our teachers go above and beyond to ensure students grow not only academically, but also behaviorally — developing the skills they need to be successful in school and beyond.”

“We are extremely proud to have earned an Excellent Report Card Rating along with this recognition for student growth,” Wilburn said. “This accomplishment reflects the collective effort of our students, staff, and families.”

The Palmetto Silver and Gold awards program was established by the South Carolina General Assembly as part of the Education Accountability Act (EAA) of 1998. The program recognizes and rewards schools for attaining high levels of absolute performance, high rates of growth, and for making substantial progress in closing the achievement gap between groups of students, according to the Department of Education.

“Having three schools earn Palmetto Silver Awards is a strong reflection of the focused work, shared commitment, and continued progress happening across our district,” said Lexington Two Interim Superintendent Dr. Angela Cooper.  “We are grateful for the dedication of our school leaders, teachers, staff, students, and families who make this kind of achievement possible.  This recognition affirms that Lexington Two is moving forward in meaningful ways, and that is truly something to celebrate.”
