**Algebra 1**

** Course Description:** Algebra allows students to describe patterns of all kinds, work with many formulas, discuss unknowns in problems, make quick graphs for data, and investigate with TI-84 Plus calculator.

** Goals and Objectives:** Units of study will be grouped and taught in accordance with the Algebra 1 and 8

^{th}grade South Carolina College- and Career-Ready (SCCCR) Mathematical Process Standards. A copy is provided.

** Advanced Probation Policy:** Students must meet the minimum requirements set by the district to remain in the advanced program. If a student fails to meet this requirement, he/she will be placed on Improvement Plan Status/Probation.

__Any student scoring less than a__

**70**on two consecutive grading periods will be removed from the advanced program.

__Final Grade Calculation:__

1^{st} & 2^{nd} Semester: 80%

End of Course (EOC) Exam: 20%

^{th}grade South Carolina College and Career Ready (SCCCR) Mathematical Process Standards.

** Interactive Student Notebooks. **This is a notebook that each child will create this year in class. It will help each student learn how to organize and study mathematics. It is necessary to have a 5-subject spiral bound notebook.
